Tether Open-Sources Wallet Development Kit to Expand Cross-Chain Capabilities
Tether has unveiled its Wallet Development Kit (WDK), an open-source framework aimed at simplifying the creation of multi-chain, self-custodial wallets. The MOVE aligns with the stablecoin issuer's broader strategy to enhance decentralized finance infrastructure and promote programmable money.
The WDK enables developers, organizations, and even AI agents to build wallets capable of operating across diverse environments—from IoT devices to desktop and server applications. By eliminating licensing fees and proprietary restrictions, Tether seeks to democratize access to wallet development for DeFi, payments, gaming, and other use cases.
Paolo Ardoino, Tether's prominent figure, framed the initiative as part of a vision where humans, machines, and AI agents transact without boundaries. The toolkit's modular design could accelerate adoption of cross-chain interoperability, reinforcing Tether's dominance in the stablecoin ecosystem.
